September 3, 2021 Kancamagus Highway

We arrived in North Conway and immediately decided that our first stop had to be Mount Washington.  Every website talks about this drive to the top as being the number one place to visit in New Hampshire.  We drove there on September 2, 2021 only to find that the drive to the top would cost  $65.   By the time we arrived at the starting point the visibility at the top was showing 100feet. We decided it was not worth the drive to see nothing. Instead we decided to drive the Kancamagus Highway.  (We did consider doing the cog railroad to the top but that was 3 hours round trip with no dog allowed. The cost would have been 158 for two of us.  We decided not to go that way either.).

So off to the Kancamagus we go.

We drove back to Glen then over to Bartlett and then down to the Kancamagus.  We decided we would hike Sabbaday Falls.
It’s a short hike from the parking lot up to the falls. Since we have had a lot of rain the water was running.  The hike to the falls was a gentle slope but the stairs to the top of the fall were steep.

Since we were in the White Mountains National Forrest we were covered for parking by Phil’s Senior Pass.

We travelled along the Highway to its terminus in North Woodstock.  We stopped at just about all the overlooks. Below are some photos.

It was a great day of exploring the White Mountains.
