Our first campground in a National Park

I can honestly say I had never heard of Buffalo National  River until I started looking for a place to stay in northern Arkansas as we headed toward St. Louis. This park which includes portions of the  of the White and Buffalo Rivers protects an ecosystem that covers over 120 mikes of pristine forest.

We snagged a couple of nights at the only campground that has water and electricity for RVs. The Buffalo Point campground where we stayed is on the far eastern edge of the park. We had a great site from which we could walk down the riverbank and float down the river.

We went exploring and were able to see at least one bend in the river. Never knew Arkansas had so much lush forest land and great outdoor recreation spaces.

Learned from a ranger that a portion of the park used to be a state park that was donated to the state.   This sign we found tells it all - for all the little “boys.”

A side note - have seen no other cars from California for over two weeks. Somewhat surprised about that.
